Holbrook is Our Hometown
If you live in Holbrook you may know that the town was named for benefactor Elisha N. Holbrook, who provided the town with the funds for the town hall and library upon incorporation. Holbrook is a "leap year" town... incorporated as a town on February 29, 1872. Holbrook is 140 years old, but has had only 34 "birthdays" on February 29, 2012. Holbrook has seen periods of considerable growth, particularly after WW II. The factories and farms that were once the primary occupations of the residents are now gone. Today, Holbrook consists of many service businesses and residents that commute to the Boston area for employment.
